Freya's Garden
The Saga Of Freya's Garden Products
|
The Norse-Viking people were most often merchant traders, despite their public image as just barbaric warriors. With their trusty ships, they traveled far and wide seeking trade with other civilizations wherever they could find it. It is said that one day, the Goddess Freya chose a band of brave Norse heroes for a special mission. She would show them a route from their Scandinavian home through the land of Gardariki (Russia) down the Volga River to Serkland (Middle East), and another route down the Dnieper River to Miklagard (Constantinople), the great city! All the Goddess asked, was that these heroes bring her some of the finest perfumes, spices and other such goods that they could find there. In return, the heroes would open up new markets for their own trade goods, and earn great treasures and fame.
The journey was fraught with danger, but like true Norsemen, Freya's Heroes braved it all to get what the Goddess wanted. With their trade goods, they bought only the finest Frankincense and musks from Africa and Egypt while in Miklagard (Constantinople), the finest Lavender from the Bulgars, and the finest Indian Sandalwood, Jasmine, and Honeysuckle from the Serk traders who traveled the great Silk Road across Asia. These wise heroes also remembered to bring back some of these treasures for their wives and sweethearts, so the Goddess Freya smiled upon them and made them fruitful! Thus, goes the Saga of Freya's Heroes!
